Giant Menorah Lighting Ceremonies
As the Festival of Lights approaches, the South Bay community comes together to celebrate Chanukah in a series of Giant Menorah Lighting ceremonies. These events promise to illuminate not only the night but also the hearts of all who attend. Join your neighbors for an unforgettable celebration filled with music, dancing, donuts, and hot latkes!
Chanukah, also known as the Festival of Lights, commemorates the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem after a successful revolt against oppression. The lighting of the menorah represents the miracle of the oil that lasted eight days, symbolizing hope, resilience, and faith. The menorah itself is a nine-branched candelabrum, with eight candles for each night of Chanukah and the shamash, or helper candle, used to light the others. This tradition is a cornerstone of Jewish culture and a reminder of the light that can shine through even the darkest times.
